Union Minister of State Jitendra Singh said in Rajya Sabha on Thursday that during the last two years, there has been no incident of paper leak in the recruitment examinations conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), Staff Selection Commission (SSC), Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) and Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS).
He said that recently the National Examination Agency (NTA) conducted the NEET (UG) examination in OMR (pen and paper) mode on May 5, 2024. On which some cases of alleged irregularities/fraud came to light. The minister said that after review, the matter was handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for comprehensive investigation on June 22, 2024.
To prevent unfair means in public examinations, the government has enacted the Public Examinations Act, 2024. Which has later notified the rules under the Act.
Let us tell you that the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024 was passed to increase the credibility of public examinations. It prohibits the leakage of information related to a particular examination before the scheduled time and entry of any unauthorized person in the examination hall.
These include UPSC, SSC, Railway Recruitment Board, banking recruitment exams and NTA exams. All these exams will now come under this law and strict action will be taken against those who cheat in them.
